They roam the streets hungry, injured, and alone, searching for scraps of food and a place to rest, often finding neither. Many of them don’t survive harsh weather, disease, or starvation. Their suffering goes unnoticed, their lives unlived, their voices unheard.
My name is Zeerak Khan Khattak. I am 20 years old and currently a bachelor’s student studying Software Engineering. Every day, I walk back home from university, and along the way, I used to see a skinny, hungry dog wandering around, moving from place to place in search of food. He had no one. No home. No care.
Whenever I could, I would give him my leftovers. It wasn’t much, but it felt like something. Like I was helping, even in a small way.
But one day, as I was walking back home, I saw him lying on the sidewalk. Motionless. Gone.
That moment changed something in me.
I realized that this isn’t just one dog’s story. This is the reality for thousands of street animals across Pakistan. And that’s when I made a promise to myself that I would do something bigger.
This fundraiser is a step toward changing that reality.
