A few weeks ago, our best friend Megan received a sudden and devastating breast cancer diagnosis. Multiple biopsies and tests revealed Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma that spread to her nearby breast tissue and lymph nodes.

She learned of her diagnosis on her fiancé Mike's birthday in the midst of preparing for their upcoming wedding in October.

The past few weeks she has undergone numerous scans and has met with several specialists including Oncology, Surgery, and Reproductive Endocrinology. Megan has a long and difficult treatment journey ahead of her which will include chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and hormonal therapy.

Megan and Mike were looking forward to starting a family immediately following their wedding this fall, but these plans will be delayed due to her treatment. Megan is in the process of freezing her eggs which is a VERY costly expense. This rushed IVF process is crucial as her ovaries may not function as efficiently following chemotherapy which will start in the coming days. Once her egg retrieval is complete, she will begin her chemotherapy treatments.

Those of you who are lucky enough to know Megan (AKA Steen) know how incredible she is. She is spontaneous, fun, kind hearted, and always there to support the ones she loves while making those around her double over in laughter. We adore her and are hoping to help support her in anyway we can because she deserves it.

This diagnosis has been devastating for her and her family who remain overwhelmed and blindsided as they try to process the road ahead. While she undergoes treatment, she will be taking a leave of absence at work to focus on her road to recovery. Treatment will be costly, and any contribution made will go directly toward easing the financial burden for Megan and her family.
